Tour Our Boho Inspired Primary Bedroom

I took a slow approach to finishing our primary bedroom, and it honestly turned out considerably different than the direction I thought it would take. I feel like the rug changed the entire vibe of the room. It forced me to add in some color and gave it a boho feel. When we sold our house in town to move to the old farmhouse we did some major downsizing. We basically just tried to get by in the old house as the new house was being built which meant I was basically starting from scratch. (except the headboard and my beloved plants)

I also started shopping for used dressers to refinish because I knew brand new quality bedroom furniture was not in the budget, and I would rather buy used pieces that were real wood even if they require a bit of work. The dresser in our bedroom was given to us. I love mid-century modern furniture and anything on legs is generally a keeper for me so I knew I wanted this in our bedroom, plus it was in fantastic shape. I have the tall matching dresser as well, but it still needs to be finished so that will get added to our room hopefully this spring. The paint color is knapsack khaki from Melange. I had thought it would be a little warmer in tone. It is almost grey, but it actually ties into our headboard nicely. (our headboard is the one thing that made the move and I was planning on getting something different, but it works well for now).

We also needed new nightstands, but I wanted to wait until we moved in to decide on those. I seriously measured this space a dozen times making sure we had room for our king bed on that wall with two nightstands. I knew they would need to be smaller than 2 feet wide and these fit the bill! The curtains I already had from back in my studio photography days, and the rod is a very affordable amazon find that I would 100% recommend. Our mirror was also a decent deal and that came from Target! The size was perfect and it is a really heavy duty standing mirror.

All of our bedding is very affordable from both Target and Amazon! The taupe (which is more peach) comforter is actually our second one from this brand. We have a grey one as well that we now use in our family room and for guests. The boys fight over it because it is so soft. I used to use down comforters and duvets, but I honestly do not feel like they are worth the hassle. This one is a down alternative and you just throw the whole thing in the wash when needed! Plus it is very soft and the right amount of thickness for year round use. The velvet rust colored quilt was from Target and is a nice winter add on for a cozy bed. I also bought a lot of new pillows for our home so that guests would always have plenty of decent pillows to choose from. If you are looking for nice hotel quality pillows that aren’t too thick, then I have the pillows for you. (anyone else feel like hotel pillows are always way too thick?) I ended up ordering more of them because I was so impressed with the quality! Our sheets are also from Amazon and I will admit they are not the softest sheets we have ever had, but I liked the taupe stripes and they have softened up in the wash.
