Little Touches of Autumn in our Home

I love to change up our decor seasonally, and find myself looking forward to making small updates to usher in a new season. I prefer things clean and simple for spring and summer. Come fall, I am ready for all the cozy vibes. I love warm tones and an autumnal color palette really speaks to me! As we gear up to spend more time indoors, I want our spaces to reflect that shift with comfort and ambience being the focus. I think it is really easy to get carried away with seasonal decor, and if that is your jam, then by all means! But if you prefer a little more low-key here are a few ways to decorate for Autumn without going overboard and breaking the bank.

You can never have too many throws, blankets or throw pillows (Ok..you can have too many throw pillows. Just don’t put them all out at once) and this is another affordable way to update a space. I actually store most of our blankets after the long winter and by the time autumn rolls around, I am ready to dig them out and enjoy the rich colors and coziness once again. I love adding a new blanket in a fresh pattern once the cooler weather sets in.

I also add in fall blooms, branches and greenery. I change out most of my vases a few times a year for a quick update. You can opt for the real deal or find impressive faux florals. I have started to amass quite a collection, but I always end up buying a few new stems each season. This makes the arrangement feel new and fresh and it isn’t a huge investment.

Also, treat yourself to a new candle or two. I can’t do very heavy scents so I try to pick something that doesn’t over power my house. Simmer pots are also a great option as are essential oils, but I will always love how candles glow so I do burn a few even if they are non-scented.

Lastly, it wouldn’t be Fall without pumpkins. This is one of those seasonal decorations that I will go over board on! There are so many varieties out there! Different shapes, sizes, textures, colors…there really is a pumpkin for everyone. As the we progress into October I start adding in some spookier decor as I love Halloween, but I like to give Autumn a little time to shine on its own before bringing out the skulls and bats. My favorite way to transition into a new season or holiday is by slowly adding new pieces in. Then it never feels overwhelming and I get to enjoy decorating a bit longer!
