My Five Favorite Things About Our Farmhouse Kitchen
I feel like I’ve shared plenty about my kitchen, but I wanted to get a bit more specific and share my 5 favorite things about our farmhouse kitchen.
1. The 10 foot island. It might seem excessive now, but I know that as our boys continue to grow, it will be so necessary! We eat about 90% of our meals here and love the look as well as functionality.
2. Our cabinets. I was afraid that not having cabinets on our sink wall would make it feel like we were lacking storage space but luckily I was wrong! The floor to ceiling cabinets on our range wall offers enough upper cabinets and our island gives us plenty of storage as there are cabinets on both sides. I still haven’t filled all the drawers or cabinets yet.
3. The lighting! I was so picky about lights! I knew we’d want recessed lights in the kitchen, but I also wanted plenty of mood lighting as I told the electrician. I probably spent more time picking out the pendants lights than any other lights. I had an over the sink light picked out early and my sister told me not to sleep on under the cabinet LEDs and she was right as they were an inexpensive add on.
4. Our farmhouse sink. What’s not to love about this classic design choice. Plus it is a work horse!
5. Our range/oven combo. Speaking of work horses…this is IT! The oven and a half gives me the extra capacity when I need it and the large range is such a nice option! I mean I really only use 4 burners but I’m hoping more will get used in the future!
